KMDD FAQ

How much does KM Digital Design charge for a website?
Every customer will get a thorough quote designed to their specific needs. However, for an idea of KMDD standard fees CLICK HERE (PDF).

Where do I start?
A basic idea of what kind of design you'd prefer is helpful. Will your site be humorous? Classic? Highly informational? Do you prefer a clean spare look or will you need to have lots of info and text? If you want images or a portfolio included, do you have those ready? A few days surfing the web for ideas is a good way to find out what you like and what you don't.

After you answer these few basic questions a design takes from a few days to a week. You'll receive your first design as a static image via e-mail. Up to three design adjustments are included in your initial price quote.

Your next step will be to determine your website domain name. Registration is free with your hosting fees and KMDD will register your site for you. Use this link (All Whois) to determine if the name you prefer is available use:

http://www.allwhois.com

If the name you want is available, contact KMDD. Do NOT register your name (remember, it's free and you'll be charged if you choose to register yourself).

How long before I'll have a finished website?
Well, the simple answer is - depends. To expedite your site creation make sure, before you start, that you know what your site will actually contain. Standard information includes an ABOUT page so prepare a mission, artist or other short informational statement. You'll also need a CONTACT page with your address, phone, fax and e-mail address. Every page in your site will need text and image content prepared for inclusion at the start of your web project.

After you approve your design and your site is hosted, you'll receive updates live online. You'll be able to see your site as it's being built. KMDD does almost all of it's client communication via email, so during your project it is VERY IMPORTANT that you check your email at least once a day (The more you check the faster we communicate!). If all information is provided in an organized manner and on a timely basis, a standard six page site should be completed in about 2-3 weeks.

How should I send my images?
Images correctly prepared for your website will save you time and money. Make sure all images are labelled properly. Do not send images you don't need included on your site. Images should be at least 400 x 400 pixels at 72 DPI. RGB jpegs are ideal.

If you are not sure how to format your images please refer to the KMDD standard fees for photo editing prices. Send your images on a CD or, if you are familiar with FTP, contact KMDD for set-up info. If you need your CD returned, please include a self addressed stamped envelope.

How should I prepare and send my other web content?
KM Digital Design uses a MAC driven environment. Type your content in any text based software such as Microsoft Word and save it as a text file. Your files can then be e-mailed to KMDD as an attachment. Smaller amounts of information can be placed directly into the body of your e-mail.

Will my site be "search engine ready"? Does KMDD guarantee placement?
KMDD will code your site for search engine placement. We also submit your site to Yahoo and Google for free. We can not, however, guarantee top placement. Search engine optimization is a complicated and ever changing science. To guarantee placement, KMDD recommends that you check out the "pay for placement" options of either Yahoo or Google, two of the web's top search engines.

What will my up-front costs be?
A $300.00 deposit will get your site started and includes your web-hosting fees. All final payments are due within 30 days of the completion for your web project. A 10% late fee will be added after 60 days and 20% after 90 days.
