I heard this statement at WordCamp US in December. This is up from previous estimates in November of the same year! What does this mean for you, KMDD client? It means you’re running a modern, sustainable website with a pretty much out-of-box guarantee for a future-proof site.
WordPress has evolved greatly since it was released on May 27, 2003. 2015 was a year of incredible growth for the platform, with a new update planned for April of 2016. Speed and performance continue to be a hallmark of the Open Source development of WordPress software.
New for 2016 KMDD clients
KM Digital Design is serious about the safety of our client’s websites. To make sure all our websites have the most up-to-date security patches we have instituted new rules for backup and updating of all client WordPress websites. Starting in 2016, KMDD will institute WordPress Auto-updating for all Siteground hosted clients. The good news is that you can be assured that your site will always contain the newest security patches. We will notify all clients when major, new versions of WordPress are released. It is up to you to make sure your site is backed up prior to and working properly after these updates are completed.
Your WordPress version is only part of future proofing and securing your site. There are other parts of your WordPress website that need regular maintenance. This includes, the theme your site is built upon, the plugins that add extra functionality to your site, site backups and virus protection software or recovery*. Login to your WordPress dashboard regularly to see available updates for WordPress version, themes and plugins– Dashboard>Updates. Backup up your site on a scheduled, regular basis. We recommend WP-Clone plugin which may already be installled in your Dashboard. It is the responsibility of all clients to keep their site updated, maintained and backed up to avoid security issues, malware breaches and the general health of your WordPress website.
